Point, Snap, Add: Exploring Smart Image Capture for CheckMARC
For many reps, adding restorative materials into CheckMARC is a small but repetitive part of the day that quietly eats up time and attention.
Today, the workflow is simple but not exactly effortless: you type product names into a search bar, scroll through a list, and select the correct match. It works, but it’s not hard to see the friction. Typing on a mobile device can be slow. Typos, abbreviations, or autocorrect can nudge you toward the wrong item. Small errors here can ripple downstream into reporting, inventory accuracy, and decision-making.
So we started asking a simple question:
What if adding restorative materials to CheckMARC could be faster, more intuitive, and almost effortless?
That question turned into a proof of concept we’re now excited to share.
From Typing to Tapping: A Proof of Concept
In this early prototype, we’re exploring a new way for reps to add restorative materials to CheckMARC directly from the iOS app without relying on manual typing.
Instead of entering product names into a search bar, users can:
Capture images of products one after another
Let AI do the heavy lifting behind the scenes
Here’s how the concept works:
Snap a photo of a product label from within the CheckMARC iOS app.
AI reads the product name from the image.
The system searches the CheckMARC database for the best match.
It selects the most likely product and
Automatically adds it to the clinic’s inventory with minimal manual input.
The goal is straightforward:
Reduce friction. Save time. Improve accuracy.
Instead of typing and correcting and scanning, reps can move through products in rapid succession simply point, snap, and move on.
Here is a short video showing it in action
Hier ist ein kurzes Video, das es in Aktion zeigt
Why This Matters Beyond Convenience
The obvious benefit is speed and ease of use for reps and clinics. Less typing. Fewer errors. Faster workflows.
But there’s a bigger story here especially from the perspective of manufacturers and sales reps who want deeper visibility into the market.
When adding products becomes faster and more accurate:
You capture richer, cleaner data about what’s actually being used in clinics.
That data helps you understand which products are gaining or losing traction.
Over time, this builds a much clearer, more accurate picture of the competitive landscape:
Which brands are being used side by side?
Which products are becoming the true “go-tos” in certain regions or clinic types?
Where are there opportunities to introduce superior alternatives or bundles?
Better data in means better decisions for territory planning, product strategy, marketing, support, and long-term roadmap thinking.
This proof of concept isn’t just about making inventory entry “less annoying.” It’s about laying the groundwork for a smarter, more connected view of how restorative materials are actually used in the real world.
We’re Exploring, Not Announcing (Yet)
To be clear: this is a proof of concept, not a final feature announcement.
We’re exploring how AI-powered image capture could fit into CheckMARC in a way that:
Feels natural in a rep’s daily workflow
Maintains accuracy and reliability
Delivers real value to clinics, reps, and manufacturers
And that’s where you come in.
We Want Your Feedback
We’re actively looking for feedback and interest as we explore how this capability could evolve within CheckMARC.
Would this workflow fit how you actually work day to day?
What would make it truly indispensable?
What are your concerns around accuracy, speed, or edge cases?
Would you be interested in getting early access to the feature?
